Peter Cosbey

Peter Cosbey, 'cello

Canadian ’cellist, Peter Cosbey, began his career in Regina, as a member of the Regina Symphony Orchestra. He has travelled across Canada, and abroad to Japan and China, as principal ’cellist with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. Prize-winner at the Nation Music Festival, Mr. Cosbey has also been the recipient of numerous other awards, including the Dr. Howard Leyton-Brown Bow Award. He is also an active chamber musician; his work with The Cosbey Trio, and others, has been broadcast on CBC radio. As in recent performances with the St. Clair Quartet, Peter has worked closely with composers such as internationally renowned American composer, George Crumb. Peter has studied with, among others, Cameron Lowe, Yuli Turovsky, and Daniel Domb. Presently he resides in Toronto, where he pursues his studies with Bryan Epperson at the Glenn Gould School.
